I'm 39 weeks, but only 1cm dilated, and I've only had a few contractions. Why?

39 weeks + 5 days, I was 1cm last Wednesday and cervix is quite soft, baby is low. Had a membrane sweep done and tried having sex, still no bloody show yet. Only thing I've noticed is a super heavy feeling in my lower abdomen, pushing down on my vagina too. Some minor back cramps kinda like period pain for the last 6 hours but they don't get stronger its frustrating

39+weeks. 2cm dilated 10% effaced.. feeling depressed no where near as early as my first was born at 37 weeks.. :(

Currently 39wks and 1d... 40% effaced and a tight 1cm dilated. My cervix is still "way up there" as told by my ob.... waiting on my sweet baby girl. Any day now. I can't wait to hold her!

I domt get it. Dont you only start dilating when you feel contractions during labour? I didnt even lose my mucus plug until labour

The human body is complex and the female body is on a whole different level . A mother will always know how her body is and always trust your body. Your brain will know what to do when it is the right time. Don't fall for all the odd noise coming from docs, who most of the time in large hospitals they always have an incentive to follow hospital patient management and administrative policy. Keep in mind you can be part of a research they are collecting data for. Its a team effort, your baby, your brain and you! ....we had mothers and relatives who gave birth to baby's ( 5-18 Childs) and all that without epidural or c-section. And this was from the villages of Bangladesh.

im 39 weeks and I went to my doctors appointment and said I was 1 cm, im not sure if ill get intil my due date I begin having contractions with hard belly and back pain they dont last much. im sort of nervious 😓🙏🏼🙌🏼
