You need to find a video that shows you how to remove this race. The cutting torch method takes less then a minute. you will see how silly this vid is.
Got mine off by turning it down in a lathe. Once the race was thin, it broke real easy.
I usually grab it and twist it off with my bare hands
I cut a small groove and then use an air chisel. Takes me longer to get all the tools out and to put them away than it does to actually remove the stuck race.
"Boom! Done!" Great vid!
good idea, thanks.
well i got those tools.
wish it didn't have to come to cutting, but as a last resort you gotta do
what you gotta do.
Cut mine off with a 4 in. Grinder cutting wheel. Luckily that metal cracks when pounding it with a mini sledge & steel reiniforced chisel
I thought about getting a special too to pull these but then I realized that the race has a lot of outward tension on it.
I just put the hub back on the tire (for support) and then air hammered the race. I did spend time cutting a line through the race but the metal shattered in the thickest parts.
This worked great with an impact gun. In fact it was so easy it was very anti climactic, lol.
Was able to rent the bearing puller as two different parts from Autozone for $100 (refundable).
Thanks for the great video. It's like you're the only one to figure this out and shoot a video about it.
I do have to say that is a great idea grinding the two notches in the inner baring I never seen that one before and man have I been looking all over you tube and seen many different ways and most of them I have seen before over my 50 years of doing work on cars .....
CV joint in through the hub backwards held by the axle nut is the best bearing for the thrust bolt. The nose should have a conical recess for the tip.
I just bought aftermarket hubs but my ARP wheel studs do not fit. OEM Kurl is smaller. So now I have to get the inner race off my OEM hubs to reuse them. Thanks I will use this technique.
Nice job. That parts so cheap I probably would have replaced the whole assembly.
Brillant. Thanks for sharing the tip.
Well done bearings are a bugger with out the right gear that one didn't want to be nice to you.
Yo this is absolutely ingenious. This is by far the best way I've seen so far.
What is that saw you we're using..thanks
This is a great way to go about removing an inner bearing race. Thanks for sharing. I'm putting this trick to use, right now.
